Befrienders centers work to reduce suicide worldwide with 31,000 volunteers in almost 40 countries
Steve Evans, Chair of Samaritans:
"Dr Chad Varah touched the lives of millions of people during his lifetime.
His legacy to all of us is Befrienders Worldwide, founded by him and staffed by volunteers around the world. We believe that offering people the opportunity to be listened to in confidence, and accepted without prejudice, can alleviate despair and suicidal feelings. We will miss him, but his work lives on through thousands of volunteers who ensure that our service is available 24hours a day, every day.
On these pages you can write down your feelings and thoughts in honour and memory of Dr Chad Varah, his life and work".
